FAQ

r range of frequently asked questions can help you to solve the problems you may encounter.

However, if your question has not been answered, please feel free to Contact Us

Q Why are there white lines or gaps on my printout?

This may be due to air bubbles inside your cartridge and we recommend that you stop printing immediately. Please run the self-cleaning programme (according to printer instructions) at least three times to clear the bubbles. The frequency and effect of cleaning may vary with the type of printer. If you do not stop printing, irrecoverable damage may be made to your printer. Poor condition of print head and regression of printer may also be the cause of the above mentioned problem.

Q Do I need to remove the clear plastic strip on my cartridge?

No. This affects the vacumn within the cartridge and may cause leaking or prevent printing.

Q I’ve installed a new cartridge but nothing is printing?

This problem can be due to the following reasons:
The print head is dry or blocked. Please perform the self-cleaning programme (according to printer instructions) at least three times and resume printing. Should the same problem occur you may need to replace the cartridge.
The sealing label may not have been removed. Remove the sealing label completely in order to let air enter the top of the cartridge through the air channel. (If the sealing label is removed after loading the cartridge into the printer, printing quality cannot be guaranteed)
This may indicate improper protection or irrecoverable damage to the print head. Please refer to our Tips & Advice on how to maintain your print head.
On chipped cartridges, it is essential that the chip on your cartridge is fully in line with the chip inside your printer. Take out your printer cartridge and reinstall.

Q After refilling my cartridge, no image is printed.

Air may be blocking the nozzles or there is insufficient ink to reach the nozzle. Refer to user instructions for refilling procedure. It is important that you apply the air pump and press at least 3 times until a drop of ink reaches the print head nozzle. Wipe the excess droplets carefully use tissue to absorb any unnecessary ink around the ink outlet.

Q When changing my cartridge, I receive a warning prompt. What does this mean?

When inserting a new cartridge, you may receive a prompt "The installed ink cartridge differs from the original ink cartridge for the printer. Your printouts may be different from those printed using original ink cartridges. Do you want to continue using the currently installed ink cartridge?" If you click Yes, printing will continue. If you select No, you will be prompted to change the cartridge. Manufacturer prompts may vary.

Q There are variations in the printed colour image to the original.

Both original and good quality colour ink have their strengths. People often mistake the printout of original ink as the standard. Printouts may appear to be different whilst applying the same colour scheme (cyan, magenta and yellow). Magenta of one brand may appear to be purple, but another may appear to be rose red. The printing effect will not be exactly the same if you compare colour printouts of different models of printers or different brands of ink.
Ink saturation, type of paper, printer resolution, image quality and printing speed may all have effects on the quality of the image. Ensure that the media settings on your printer matches the media you are using. Also, colours may vary with different types of software (eg. Photoshop and Coreldraw) so the setting may need to be altered accordingly.

Q My ink cartridge is depleted and I have no spare cartridge readily available.

Install a Print Rite Cleaning Cartridge in order to remove the substance which causes clogging of the printhead. You may also use it before each installation of a new cartridge to keep the print head in good condition.

QQ Does the solvent of the Print-Rite Cleaning Cartridge damage the print head?

No. Experiments have been conducted to prove that the solvent is not corrosive to the print head and, therefore, no damage is experienced.

Q Can the Print-Rite Cleaning Cartridge clean the print head?

Yes. Our cleaning solvent is able to effectively dissolve the substance such as air bubbles, precipitants and dried ink which cause clogging. If the substance is removed, printing quality will be improved.

Q What does the utility feature "Unknown" stand for?

Inside the printer utility features, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) brand will be replaced by the mentioned "Unknown" when you use a compatible cartridge due to different data input on the chip set. This is simply for configuration purpose and has no impact at all on the normal operation of your printer.

What shall I do if my printer cannot recognise the cartridge?

In the unlikely event that your printer sends you a message saying "Installed Ink Cartridge cannot be recognised", simply take the cartridge out of the printer and reinstall again to ensure the contact points on the cartridge and on the printhead are aligned. Whilst doing so, it is imperative that you do not touch the computer chip with your fingers as the static electricity naturally created by the human body may have a detrimental effect on the chip. If the message still reappears, turn the printer off and then back on again. You may then get the usual Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) warning asking if you want to continue using a non-original cartridge. The warning message may include a declaration regarding warranty but, In our experience within the international printing industry, we have found that the cases whereby a non OEM product has caused physical harm to a printer are extremely rare. Simply click Yes and carry on with the normal printing procedure.

Q My computer is warning that an unknown manufacturers product is being used.

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) configure their printers to trigger a warning message when they detect that a non OEM product is being used. Each time the printer is turned on, the trigger activates and this causes the message to appear on your screen. The warning message may include a declaration regarding warranty but, In our experience within the international printing industry, we have found that the cases whereby a non OEM product has caused physical harm to a printer are extremely rare.

Q My printer is indicating "out of ink" but there is ink still in the cartridge.

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) products are configured to print only the amount of ink held within the product. Within the compatible industry, it is quite common that the compatible cartridge holds more ink that the OEM. Therefore, once the printer has printed its recognised quota of pages, the printer will automatically prompt you to change the cartridge. If you turn the printer off and then back on again, this may overcome the signal and printing will resume until the ink supply is depleted.

Q How do your cartridges compare to original manufacturers cartridges.

As Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) products are configured to print only the amount of ink held within the product. Within the compatible industry, it is quite common that the compatible cartridge holds more ink that the OEM. Therefore, the page yield generated from using a compatible cartridge is equal to or greater than an OEM original.

Q My picture has not printed with the sharpness I expected and the colours have bled into one another.

Please ensure you are using the correct type of media for the application you are using. Standard black text from a Word document can be printed on standard inkjet paper, however, high quality/resolution images must be printed onto high quality media.

How to install and replacing the Cartridge?

How to install and replacing the Cartridge?

If you doubt the Cartridge's quality, take it from the printer and seal it with transparent tape, then hand it to the distributor
Please do not to use the over-exceeded Cartridge

TYPES OF INK

Whatever technology is applied to printer hardware, the final product consists of ink on paper, these two elements are vitally important when it comes to producing quality results. Two entirely different types of ink are used in inkjet printers: Dye based and pigmented. Dye based ink have high brilliance and wide colour gamut, but are not light fast or water-fast enough. They are slow at penetrating and take about ten seconds to dry. However, Pigmented inks are more waterproof and fade-resistant and fast-drying which dry at about 100 times this speed. The former is generally better suited to straightforward monochrome printing, while the latter is used for colour. With colour printing, because different inks are mixed, they need to dry as quickly as possible to avoid blurring. If slow-drying ink is used for colour printing, the colours tend to bleed into one another before they’ve dried.

COST OF INK CARTRIDGES

The cost of brand name inkjet cartridges can be exceedingly high in comparison to compatible or remanufactured inkjet cartridges. In many cases, compatible inkjet cartridges can be as much as 70% less than the cost of brand name cartridges making them a good economical option.

It is easy to source cartridges for Epson, Hewlett Packard and Canon printers. The Epson type has a fixed print head and the Hewlett Packard type has print heads in the cartridges. Canon produces printers of both types and a halfway system with a removable print head unit that takes small cartridges.

The fixed print head printer (Epson) uses cheaper cartridges that are only ink tanks. It has one drawback; if the printer is only used occasionally, the print head can dry out and become blocked. The printer is then likely to be a write-off. It is almost very difficult to clear a blocked print head.

The printer that has print heads in the cartridges (Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Canon) can also suffer from a blocked print head. If this should happen, only a cartridge is lost. Print head cartridges cost more than the ink tank type but often contain more ink.

Epson have introduced a series of inkjet printers that use chipped inkjet cartridges. The microchips offer no advantages to the user over the original system that Epson used for its earlier printers to indicate the amount of ink left. Epson introduced the chips to make it difficult if not impossible for the compatible cartridge makers to produce cartridges for the new printers. Nevertheless, the compatible companies have now produced cartridges with compatible chips. These tend to cost slightly more than the unchipped cartridges but are still considerably cheaper than the Epson originals; search for the latest prices on our site.

REMANUFACTURED INK CARTRIDGES

A remanufactured inkjet cartridge, by definition, is a cartridge, which has been refilled with ink. Primarily you will only find remanufactured Inkjet cartridges for Hewlett Packard, Lexmark and some Canon printers, as they have patented their inkjet cartridge designs. Therefore, Many people choose to refill their own Ink cartridges, as there are refill stations available to do it you.

COMPATIBLE INK CARTRIDGES

A company other than the original printer manufacturer manufactures compatible or unbranded inkjet cartridges. There are a large number of such manufacturers and the quality of their product can vary according to the quality of ink they use. Compatible cartridges are completely new, generally reliable and perform as well as brand name cartridges.

Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM) INK CARTRIDGES

A brand name inkjet carries the brand name of the manufacturer on it, usually the same as the printer manufacturer, for example, Epson, Canon, Hewlett Packard, etc. Value Shop have worked hard to bring you the latest OEM products at superb prices.
